Happy New Year/2023 in Review!
Happy New Year! I thought I’d do a little year in review roundup. I’m not one for New Year’s as a holiday. In fact, I hate New Year’s and I wrote a song about it. But I do love taking stock … Continue reading

Countdown to 2024: 2023 Theater
Last year I saw 36 shows. This year I saw 34, so a little drop from last year, but not too bad. 24 of those were in person, 10 were streaming, on Zoom, or in a movie theater. I saw two more … Continue reading

Days of Rage, the musical I’ve written lyrics for, with book and music by Hyeyoung Kim, had an industry presentation on December 4th. We had a fantastic cast and team, and I’m so proud of everyone involved. Days of Rage has … Continue reading
WATCHING SONDHEIM WATCHING SONDHEIM
One of my experiences with Sondheim, which I wrote about immediately after it happened, and I’m glad I did. I think it’s probably similar to many people’s experiences seeing him in the theater, but at 22 I felt like it … Continue reading

Nelson (music) about musicalizing a black hole, researching and writing about a chicken bone fuel generator and an electronic sniffer, and why you shouldn’t call this a sci-fi musical. Continue reading

Countdown to 2019: 2018 Theater
Last year I saw 75 shows, not a bad showing. This year I saw 65. Sadly, 69 had been the lowest count thus far, so now I’ve hit a new low. I’m accepting that my show count should be in the 60s and … Continue reading

On Sunday, November 4th, I debuted my new cabaret show, “Not Coming Back.” It was a wonderful afternoon at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre on Christopher Street. My cabarets are a hybrid of storytelling, songs I wrote, and existing musical theater … Continue reading
