Opera

As a librettist, Shoshana has written two short operas with American Opera Projects (AOP) as part of a collaboration with AOP and the NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.

“The Community”
Composer: Kevin Cummines
Librettist: Shoshana Greenberg
Running Time: 30 minutes

It’s 400 years in the future, and humanity has rebuilt itself after an apocalyptic event that sent the survivors into another dark age. The only artifact they have from the previous civilization is a book on the history of the Stonewall Uprising. A madcap dystopian comedy that asks, what happens when a society is built on the story of Stonewall and what happens when someone wants to deviate from the norms?

Originally workshopped as part of The Stonewall Operas, a collaboration with American Opera Projects (AOP) and NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, at NYU’s Shubert Theatre and The Stonewall Inn on May 18, 19, and 20, 2019.

Named one of “The Best in Classical Concerts in 2019” by WQXR
